How to make it.

1.  Chose image that you like and find its web address. It’s easy tpo do with FireFox - click on the view image and copy its address.

2.  Add image tag about your text - for those who do not know - <img src=”"> and place your image web address inside the image tag, it looks like <img src=”http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/photos/aqua_(38).jpg”>

3. Type the brake tag <br> (or two brake tags) below your image

4.  If you want your image to be on right or on left, not on top, you need to use styles - the simplest way is to add style to your image tag, for example <img style=”float:left;margin-right:15px;” src=”http:/ijiwjiw.com/yourimage.jpg”>

This simple code and free images can really spice your ads and attract 5-10 times more responses. Enjoy…

You want to make the name of your website or company or your own name or any text in your Craigslist looks cool. You can do it even if you are not a graphic designer and you do not have a graphic software installed on your computer. You can do it online and for FREE. You can use online “text image generators” and “logo generators”.

My favorite one is http://cooltext.com. Look what I was able to create using their free logo generator.

You can do the same an more - go to their website http://cooltext.com, choose a Logo Style, type your Logo Text, choose Font and Font Size (I used 40 for size), choose Color (play with color palette and picker - it’s easy and interactive), there are some other cools features you can use - then click on “Render Logo” button and wait till your logo rendered. Even cooler - you can use any of the generated graphics in any way, shape, or form without asking permission.

Download your logo ( the generated image will only be kept on the Cool Text servers for an hour). It’s easy to download your logo as well as any image on FireFox - right-click on your mouse, choose “Save Image as…” from drop-down menu, name your image and save on your computer.

How to use these images for your Craigslist ads - very easy. Craigslist’s “Create posting” form allows you to download up to four images so click and download your logo from your computer and it will appeared on your ads. You will need to put the image files on your own web host.

Code for such ads is very simple - <a href=”http://yourwebsite.com” target=”_blank”><img src=”youimage.gif” border=”0″></a>. Actually it’s only an image linked to your website. So type your image instead of yourname image and you are done. Copy the code and paste it inside Craigslist ads form.

When using free icons or images from the web please read carefully their rules - some free images creators does not need anything from you, some wants to see a link to their website or some other kind of acknowledgment. You can place a link to them under your ads. Web community will appreciate it.

People like images so it’s not a big surprise that ads with images are more popular. If you do not believe it - test by yourself. Go to Craigslist list ads, for example, to “Services- Beauty” and find out which ads you want to click. Of course those with a short word img on right.

What surprise me that is not a lot of people use images for their ads. Look what I found on one of Services sections - most of ads without images:

In this particular section “Services - beauty” I counted 17 (!) links without img till I’ve bumped into an ad with image attached.

It’s not difficult to attach images to your Craigslist ads (Craigslist lets you do it with one click) and make your ads stand out of crowd. it’s more difficult to find images.

You can not grab images from the web and use them - most images are copy righted and protected; you can not grab someone’s photos from other Craigslist ads and use them. You can use photos you made and sometimes it works, for example, for real estate and housing rent ads and maybe for erotic ads (if you are so brave to show yourself to the World).

But what to do if you want to advertise your services such as “hair extensions expert” or “manicure and pedicure” and you do not have your own photos of gorgeous legs with pedicure or a beautiful face with your hair extensions - do not panic, you can use some funny images or icons not related t pedicure-hair extensions but appealing to people and will be likable by them. You can find free images and icons on the web, it’s not so easy to find good quality manges and icons that are free for use but they are still there on the web. Do not steal photos for your Craigslist ads… You do not need it. You can find lot of free images online. One of them that you can use for real estate and rent apartment ads is Vancouver Architecture’s photo-set of http://www.flickr.com/photos/vancouvergo. They are without copyright and are really free. I know what I am talking about - I made them Enjoy.
